Roof Completed!
With the roof up Sheila can now relax in the shade of the cool indoors. She is still supervising the roof project and as you can see she is taking it all in stride.
Happy Cinco de Mayo!
Mike and Chris are putting up the framework for the beautiful Ipe wood (a tropical hardwood similar to teak). We are going for a "waterfall effect", with the Ipe on the deck, flowing over to the front and sides. Alex is here too and back with us once again. He worked with us on our last home and can do just about anything around a building site. Right now, he is helping us with cistern prep… cleaning, coving and applying the Thoroseal waterproofing. He has a great laugh and is always smiling... it's good to have him back. And of course, Sheila, our four-legged supervisor is keeping a close watch :)
Ipe
The Ipe wood is going up. Captain Mike is away for two weeks sailing up a boat up to the states, aka, a boat delivery. So for now, it's Chris and Harley tackling the job. They're making good progress.
Moving Along!
It's been a while since my last post, so here's a quick run-down on what's been happening. The radiant barrier and the cypress is up and the ceiling is completed. The Ipe around the exterior is finished and the gutters have been installed. Moving right along.
Marble Floors
Ok... not really marble, polished concrete. We're very happy, it's the look we were hoping to achieve.
Blue Windows
We have a lovely blue sheeting protecting the windows while the stone masons put the finishing touches around the windows to seal them in place. And plastic on the floors once again to protect the new finish through this phase and the plastering phase.
Electrical
Harley is just about done with putting in the electrical panels along with about a zillon wires. Nice job Harley!
