Rencontre avec L'ingénieur

An off island rendezvous at Cafe' Montorgueil in the 2nd Arrondissement, with our engineer extraordinaire, Paul and his wife Diane, to discuss recent developments of our project . Champagne provided the inspiration, with plans of action sketched out on a cocktail napkin, made it all worth the travel :)

Concrete Trucks on Parade

Ten concrete trucks showed up today! Initially, the concrete company told us they couldn’t schedule us for another pour until the end of October. We would have been at a stand-still for 2 weeks. We don't know what changed but we don't care. Our cottage cistern walls and the main house slab is done!

We're Officially "OK'ed"

A surprise inspection from our friend, and now neighbor, Jeff Clabaugh of Villa Bongo Bongo fame. Jeff, and his partner Russ, were building Bongo Bongo back around the same time we were building Arc du Soleil, and they graced our building blog back then. So here is Jeff for an encore visit to the new site. Jeff was on his way to pick up Russ from the ferry and said he would stop by again with Russ. Harley told him we were are pouring on Saturday (concrete, not Rum) and to be sure to bring along your concrete boots!

Cottage Main Floor & Main House Cisterns

The main house's cistern walls were poured today. While we were waiting for concrete the guys started framing the rest of the main house lower level. Below with the cisterns is the garage (Harley's man-cave), the mechanical room and to the right, a storage room. The cottage main level floor slab was also poured. Mike gave the cottage floor a nice buff with a power trowel to give it a marble effect. Once the gray concrete gets a shiney sealer it will make for a beautiful floor.
